Delete your account in Skiplog

This article shows you where the delete control lives in Skiplog and what happens when you use it. You will find it on the site screen in the app, under Delete my account, and it removes your account, your site and every record on it at once.

Skiplog is not open yet, so anything on this page about what it does is what it is being built to do.

When you need this

You need this article when the yard is closing, when the account was opened by mistake, or when you have decided to stop using Skiplog and want nothing of yours left on it.

Deleting is not the same as letting a trial run out. A lapsed trial does not lock your records away: they stay readable and exportable. Deleting the account removes it all at once, so do it last, after you have taken a copy of anything you still need to keep.

The control sits on the site screen in the app, beside Export my data. Both buttons are in the same place, in that order for a reason.

Deleting the account, step by step

  1. Check nothing is still queued on a tablet

Notes recorded in a black spot sit on that device until the signal comes back. Every note carries a queued, syncing or synced status, so look at the tablets in the yard and let anything queued finish syncing before you go further.

  2. Export my data

On the site screen, use Export my data. It downloads everything on the account as a file. Save it somewhere off Skiplog, because after deletion there is nothing left to come back to.

  3. Remove anyone else you added to the site

If you have added other people to your site, remove them there first. That way a yard's records are never deleted out from under someone still working in them.

  4. Choose Delete my account

Still on the site screen, use Delete my account. If a subscription is live, it is cancelled first as part of the same action, so there is no separate cancellation to chase.

  5. Type your email to confirm

Skiplog asks you to type the email address you sign in with. That is the confirmation. Your account, your site and every record on it are then removed at once.

  6. Sign out on each device in the yard

Signing out gives up that device's queue and clears the saved screens from it, so a shared weighbridge tablet is left with nothing of yours on it.

If it did not work, or you are not sure yet

If the delete step stops part way, or other people are still listed on the site and you cannot remove them, email support@getskiplog.com and say which site you mean. Every message there lands in the support desk.

If you only want to tidy the register

Deleting the account is the heaviest option. A transfer note you remove comes off your register and your returns but stays on file for the two years the regulations require, which is a different thing from deleting the account. If what you actually want is a clean quarterly export or a correction before you send a return, start there instead.

Before you delete, take the quarter with you

If the yard still owes a quarterly return, generate and download it while the account is open, then export your data, then delete.

Questions

Where exactly is the delete control?

On the site screen in the app, as Delete my account. Export my data is on the same screen.

Does deleting cancel my subscription?

Yes. If a subscription is live, it is cancelled first as part of the deletion.

What is removed?

Your account, your site and every record on it, removed at once.

Can I get my records back afterwards?

Treat the export as your only copy. Skiplog does not publish a backup retention schedule after deletion, so download Export my data before you delete.

What about notes still saved on a tablet?

Offline notes live on the device until they sync. Let them sync before you delete, and sign out on that device afterwards, which gives up its queue and clears the saved screens from it.

I have added other people to the site. What do I do first?

Remove them on the site screen before you delete, so the yard's records are not deleted out from under them.

I only want to stop paying, not delete anything.

Then do not use Delete my account. A lapsed trial does not lock the records away: they stay readable and exportable.

How do I confirm it is really my account?

You type the email address you sign in with. Skiplog accounts are email and password, so that address is the account.
