Site operator dashboard showing WTNs logged
The site operator dashboard is the screen that shows how many waste transfer notes your yard has logged, the tonnage by waste type, and a compliance status overview. This article explains how to read it and what to do about what it shows.
Skiplog is not open yet, so anything on this page about what it does is what it is being built to do.
What this screen is for
The dashboard is the yard's running total. It shows the waste transfer notes logged on your site, the tonnage broken down by waste type, and a compliance status overview that pulls together what Skiplog is tracking for you.
Most operators open it for one of three reasons:
- A check at the end of the day or the week that every load that came over the weighbridge is on the register.
- A look at which waste types the tonnage is sitting in, before anyone asks.
- A glance at compliance status before the quarterly return goes off, so nothing turns up at the last minute.
It reads the notes your site has recorded. It is a view, not a form, so nothing you do on it changes a record.
Reading the dashboard
Open Skiplog and sign in with your email address and password. The dashboard is where you land once you are in.
- Check the notes logged
The count of waste transfer notes logged tells you how many loads are on the register. Compare it against the day's weighbridge tickets or the paper you are replacing. If a load is missing, either the note was never written or it is still waiting to sync from a device.
- Read the tonnage by waste type
Tonnage is broken out by waste type rather than shown as one lump figure, so you can see where the weight actually sat. This is the view to use when you are sanity checking a quarter before you export it.
- Look at the compliance status overview
The overview summarises what Skiplog is watching. Carrier, broker and dealer registrations you have added are tracked with their expiry dates, and anything expiring within 30 days is flagged. Expiry email reminders are part of your plan, and the registrations screen tells you what it is doing about reminders on your account.
- Act on what the overview flags
If a registration is inside 30 days, renew it with the regulator in the usual way and keep your own note of the new date. Skiplog cannot yet take a renewed expiry date, so that registration keeps reading as expiring, or expired, on this screen. If the notes and the tonnage look right, that is your cue to generate the quarterly EA return as a CSV in the EA column layout.
If the numbers still do not add up
Work through it in this order.
- Confirm the load was saved, rather than left half typed at the weighbridge.
- Check the note's sync status on the device that recorded it, and give that device a connection so the queue can clear.
- Check which waste type the load went in under. Tonnage is grouped by waste type, so a load recorded under the wrong description sits in the wrong line.
Skiplog is built to help your site meet the waste tracking requirements, and the figures on this screen are only as good as what was typed on the note.
If a figure still does not match your tickets, email support@getskiplog.com with the date and the load you are looking at, and the team will go through it with you.
Questions
Does the dashboard include notes still saved on a tablet?
No. Notes save to the device first and sync when connectivity returns, so until a note has synced it sits on that device with a queued or syncing status rather than in the dashboard's totals.
What does the compliance status overview actually cover?
It summarises what Skiplog tracks for your site, including the carrier, broker and dealer registrations you have added and their expiry dates. Anything expiring within 30 days is flagged on screen, and expiry email reminders are part of your plan.
Can I update a registration once I have renewed it?
Not yet. Renew with the regulator as normal, but Skiplog has no way to change the expiry date on a registration you have already added, so it keeps showing as expiring or expired until that is supported.
Can I use the tonnage figures for my quarterly return?
Use the dashboard to check the notes and the tonnage look right, then generate the quarterly EA return itself, which exports as a CSV in an EA-specified column layout ready to submit without manual reformatting.
Why is a load showing under the wrong waste type?
Tonnage is grouped by the waste type recorded on the note, so a load sits in whichever line its note says. If a load is in the wrong line, email support@getskiplog.com with the date and the load and the team will go through it with you.
Can more than one person see the dashboard?
Yes. The Yard plan covers two people on one site, and the Team plan gives everyone on the yard their own login, so the weighbridge, the drivers' office and the compliance person each sign in as themselves.
Who do I contact if the dashboard does not look right?
Email support@getskiplog.com with the date and the load in question. Every message there lands in the support desk.
