Your free trial

Use this article to work out how long you have, when a card is asked for, and what happens to the yard's records once the 30 days are up.

What the trial is, and when you need this page

That is the whole of it: you open an account, you write notes, and no card has been given.

Read this page when you want to know how many days a plan's trial runs, whether payment details are needed before you can record a load, or what the end of the trial means for the notes already on your register.

The length is the same on all four plans. There is no shorter trial on the cheaper plan and no longer one for paying a year up front.

How the trial runs from start to finish

  1. Open an account with an email address and a password

Skiplog signs people in with email and password. No card is required to begin the trial.

  2. Write your first transfer note

The trial exists so the yard can do the real job on the real tablet: a note with the EA-mandated fields and the EWC code, written at the weighbridge. The getting started article in this help centre walks through the first one.

  3. Use the 30 days on the work you actually do

Record loads, track the carrier, broker and dealer registrations you hold, and pull a quarterly EA return as a CSV, so you are judging Skiplog on your own waste and your own paperwork rather than on a demonstration.

  4. Pick the plan that matches the yard

Yard is £39 a month for one site and two people. Team is £69 a month for one site with a login for everyone. Paid once a year the same two plans are £390 and £690, a 17% saving. The plans and prices article sets out what each one includes.

  5. Give card details when you choose a plan

Card payments are taken by Stripe. Card details never touch Skiplog: the account holds a subscription status and a Stripe customer reference only.

If the trial has already ended

A lapsed trial does not lock the records away. The notes, registrations and returns already on the account stay readable and exportable, because waste records have to span quarters and inspections. Everything is kept while the account is open.

If you want the account gone instead, the site screen in the app has Delete my account, and Export my data on the same screen downloads it all as a file first. A live subscription is cancelled before anything is removed. The export your data and delete your account articles cover both steps.

If the days left do not match what you expected, or you cannot get a plan started, email support@getskiplog.com and the team will pick it up.

Questions

How long is the free trial?

30 days. That is the trial on every plan: Yard, Team, Yard annual and Team annual.

Do I need a card to start it?

No. Starting the free trial needs no card. You sign in with an email address and a password, and that is all the trial asks for.

When is a card asked for?

When you choose a plan. Card payments are taken by Stripe, and card details never touch Skiplog: the account holds a subscription status and a Stripe customer reference only.

Does picking the annual plan give me a longer trial?

No. The annual difference is the price: £390 instead of £468 on Yard and £690 instead of £828 on Team, a 17% saving.

What happens to my transfer notes when the trial ends?

They stay. A lapsed trial does not lock the records away: they stay readable and exportable. Records are kept while the account is open, and a note you remove comes off your register and returns but stays on file for the two years the regulations require.

Which plan should I trial on?

Yard suits an owner-operator writing the notes himself with one other person in the office: one site, two people. Team suits a busier single site where the weighbridge, the drivers' office and the compliance person each need their own login.

Can I close the account during the trial?

Yes. The site screen has Export my data, which downloads it all as a file, and Delete my account, which removes your account, your site and every record on it at once. If you have added other people to your site, remove them there first.

Start recording notes on the tablet

Set up your site once, then write the first note at the weighbridge. The free trial runs before anything is charged, and card payments are handled by Stripe.
